Donald Ray Syers “Donnie”, age 52, of Munising, died, Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at UP Health Systems Marquette following a brief illness.  He was born in Salem, Oregon on April 30, 1969.  Donnie grew up in Munising, and then spent his high school years in Grand Marais and graduated from Grand Marais High School in 1987.  He moved to Birch Run, Michigan where he began working at Uno’s Pizzeria where he worked for the next twenty years being promoted to General Manager.  Don returned home and began his favorite job, fishing.  He enjoyed the outdoors and hunting, but fishing was his favorite, especially off the Anna River pier.  Don was a diehard Lions fan and loved his role as being a fun uncle to his many nieces and nephews.  The past few years Don enjoyed fishing and talking about the Lions with his good friend Maynard Hudson.

He is survived by his mother – Nancy Syers; brother – Darren Syers; sister – Dawn Syers all of Munising; aunt – Geraldine Soard; and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.  Don was preceded in death by his sister Jackie Snell.

Private family services were held.
