Donna Mae (Pierson) Robare

Munising

Donna M. Robare, age 84, of Munising, died on Thursday evening, November 9, 2017 at the Tendercare Health Center in Munising.  She was born on the family farm on Koski Road on October 14, 1933 to Carl and Marguerite (Helsel) Pierson.  Donna attended school in AuTrain and then graduated from Wm. G. Mather High School in 1951.  She worked at the soda fountain at Putvin’s and then moved to Green Bay and worked for Schreiber Foods.  Donna returned home and went to work at Peoples State Bank.  She married Gordon “Duda” Robare on June 25, 1960 and together raised their three children.  Together they owned and operated “The Informer” for many years.  Donna worked for forty-nine years at PSB before her retirement.  She was a member of Eden Lutheran Church and enjoyed playing cards with friends and knitting.  Donna enjoyed traveling and on one of her trips, she and her sister Beda were selected to place the wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.   She also enjoyed being with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children – Beryl Davis, Gordy (Stephanie Moulds) Robare, and Tim (Karen Hautamaki) Robare all of Munising; grandchildren – Maggie, Kenny, Gordon, Jeff, Alysha, and Emily; sister – Beda (Gary) Hinderer of Springfield, OH; in-laws – Sara Pierson, Beryl (Punk) O’Boyle, and Barb Robare; and numerous nieces and nephews.   Donna was preceded in death by her parents, husband “Duda” in 1986, and brothers Royce Pierson and Ron Pierson.

Services will be held on Monday, November 13, 2017 at the Bowerman Funeral Home.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon.  Pastor Ann Gonyea will conduct Donna’s funeral service in the funeral home’s chapel at noon.  Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery at a later date.
