Donna Jean Stebelton

Donna Jean Stebelton, age 81, of E-T Road, Chatham, died unexpectedly at her home on Sunday afternoon, October 19, 2014 following a brief illness. She was born on April 6, 1933 in Munising to the late Edward and Rose (Chloe) Moore. Donna grew up in Munising and the surrounding areas while her parents worked at the local lumber camps. She attended school in Munising and after the death of her mother, she helped raise her younger siblings. Donna married Kenneth Ray Stebelton on September 22, 1956 in Angola, Indiana and together they raised their family. Donna was a loving, joyful, and wonderful homemaker. She was a fantastic cook and baker and she enjoyed berry picking and riding the two tracks in the woods. Donna loved her church and was an active member at Sion Lutheran Church in Chatham. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her children - William (Zita) Stebelton of Van Meer, Donna (Tom) MacArthur of Munising, Donald (Jeanette) Stebelton of Chatham, Susan (Ardon) Parker of Chatham, Melissa (Ronald) Freking of Taylor Mill, KY, Wallace (Megan) Stebelton of Escanaba, Meredith Thompson, Kenneth (Kathy) Stebelton, Jr., and Daniel (Kay) Stebelton all of Mt. Pleasant, MI and Carol Loomis of Lake, MI; son-in-law - Shane Hunt of St. Charles, MI, grandchildren - William, Andrea, Sandra, Jennifer, Samantha, Hannah, Nicole, Seth, Emily, Zachary, Garrett, Sierra, Katie, Matthew, Krysten, Megan, Jack, Jeanna, Renee, Dawn, Tammy, Michael, Shawn, and James; step-grandchildren - Heather, Nicole, Sara, Gaylord, Andy, and Zach; numerous great and great-great grandchildren; sisters - Midge (Jim) Maynard of Oconto, WI, Carol (Bill) Perry of Gwinn, and Betty Edmondson (Roy Hill) of Eben; and numerous nieces and nephews. Donna was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ken, daughters Rose Stebelton, Angel Stebelton, and Rita Hunt, son Philip Stebelton, great-grandson Damien Norman, sisters Wanda Wilder, Beatrice Boss, and Anna McGowan, and brothers James and Thomas Moore. Visitation will be held at the Bowerman Funeral Home in Munising on Thursday evening from 5:00 - 8:00 and at the Sion Lutheran Church in Chatham on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. Pastor Paul Kelto will conduct Donna's funeral in Chatham on Friday, October 24, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising followed by a fellowship gathering back at the church in Chatham.
