Dora Venna McGee, age 53, of N6015 Percy Road, Shingleton, died unexpectedly at home following an illness on Wednesday, April 21, 2010. She was born in Detroit on January 12, 1957 to the late James "Jim" and Mary (Sygit) Wiginton. Dora attended school and worked in the Detroit area. She moved to Kalamazoo and waitressed over twenty years in a Greek restaurant there. Dora moved to Munising around thirteen years ago and worked at Sylverters, the Hunter's Inn, and the Superior Health Haven. It was at the Health Haven where she met her future husband, James McGee. They were married on August 26, 1999. Dora enjoyed fishing, 4-wheeling, and truck pulls.
She is survived by her husband - James McGee of Shingleton; sons - James Wiginton of Kalamazoo and Michael Wiginton of Detroit; sisters - Kathleen (Bruce) Carrigan Eddy of Munising and Elaine Sue Carrigan Ghent of West Virginia; parents-in-law - Albert and Betty McGee of Shingleton; nieces and nephews - Janet (Walter) Eddy Coulby, Karen (Albert) Eddy Anthony, Renee Eddy, Greg (Jennifer) Eddy, Zachary Eddy, Amy Carrigan, Richard Carrigan, Jay Carrigan, Roger Davis, Tina Borget, and Phil Borget; numerous great-nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law - Joyce (Phil) Borget. Dora was preceded in death by her parents and brothers John and Patrick Carrigan.
Services will be held at the Bowerman Funeral Home on Monday, April 26, 2010. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. with funeral services being held at 2:00 p.m. with Bruce Peterson officiating. Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery and a fellowship gathering will be held at the Community Center in Shingleton following the services. In lieu of flowers, donations to the family are welcome.
