Dorothy Fortney, age 85, died, February 13, 2008 at the Tendercare Health Center in Munising. She was born April 16, 1922 in Buford, Georgia to the Late Ida (Braswell) and N. Howington. She married Lester "Blackie" Fortney on October 27, 1946. They moved to the Chatham area forty-one years ago. Dorothy loved gardening, feeding the birds, and preparing large home cooked meals, but most of all she loved her family, and always placed them first.
Dorothy is survived by her son - Kit (Diane) Forney; daughters - Robin (Dave) McIntyre and Severna (Lonnie) Dellar; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-seven years - Blackie on January 16, 2004, and her parents.
