Edna Elizabeth Skoglund, age 90, of Orchard Street, Munising, died on Saturday, March 31, 2007 at the Superior Health Haven in Munising following an eight year illness. She was born on August 26, 1916 in Three Rivers, Michigan to Vene and Florence (nee Quake) Lockard. Edna worked at the Beach Inn as a waitress and baked at the Red Cedar for many years. She married Herbert William Skoglund on November 5, 1938. They were married over sixty-seven years when Herb preceded her in death on January 17, 2006. Edna was a member of the Eden Lutheran Church.
Edna is survived by her daughter -Sharon "Sherry" Heikkinen of Pepin, WI; a son - Denis (Mary Ann) Skoglund of Houghton; five grandchildren - Seija, Marja, Robb, Marla, and Ann; five great-grandchildren - Parker, Delissa, Dominick, Samantha, Tyson, and Matthew; a brother - George (Myrna) Lockard of Gladstone; nieces and nephews; and her extended family of the staff at the Superior Health Haven. Edna was preceded in death by her parents, husband Herb, an infant son Loren James Skoglund, a sister, Eva Hebert, her son-in-law Rev. Dale M. Heikkinen, and a nephew Martin Lockard.
A memorial service will be officiated by Rev. Dr. Lynn Hubbard on Thursday, April 19, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at the Eden Lutheran Church in Munising. Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising.
