Edward "Eddie" John Davis

            Edward John Davis, age 60, of Wetmore, died peacefully at his home on Sunday, April 14, 2024.  He was born in Manistique on January 13, 1964 to the late Ed and Connie (Pyrzewski) Davis.  Eddie grew up in Seney and then Munising.  He graduated from Munising High School in 1982.  Eddie served as his class president and participated in Mustang football.  He was a member of the 1980 Class C State Championship Team.  Eddie earned his associate degree in electronics from DeVry University in Columbus, Ohio.  He went to work for AUTEC in the Bahamas under a naval contract.  Eddie was home on a vacation and ran into an old friend.   He and Cathy (Gruenfeld) Oas were married on June 7, 1986.   Eddie worked for the Michigan Department of Corrections.  He worked with his dad at Camp Cusino, and Eddie was a work crew foreman.   When the State of Michigan closed Camp Cusino, he transferred to Alger Max and retired from there.   Eddie worked with Ramsey Companies helping with yardwork.  That led to his own business, Davis Lawn Care.  Eddie loved to hunt with his crew at Poverty Knob, and fishing with his good friend Ed Denzler.  He was a gifted artist in water painting and wood working, and he enjoyed Sci-Fi.   Eddie was especially fond of Star Trek, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy and the Hobbit Trilogy.  

            Eddie is survived by his wife of thirty-eight years – Cathy Davis of Wetmore; children – Heather Davis of Las Vegas, NV, Kurt (Sara) Davis of Saline, MI, David (Courtney) Oas of Munising, MI and Craig (Rochelle) Oas of Sumter, SC; grandchildren – Dylan, Devin, Kyra, Braxton, MaKenna, Allie, Emmalyn, Ryder, Cooper, Logan, Jordan, Kaylee, Erik, and Blake; sister – Donna (Tony) Grahovac of Munising; niece – Samantha; and nephew – Jeff.   He was preceded in death by his parents Ed and Connie Davis, his daughter Danyel Oas, and parents-in-law Betty and Bus Gruenfeld.

         Visiting time with family and friends will be held at the Bowerman Funeral Home on Saturday, April 20, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.  There will be a fellowship gathering at Gallery Coffee following the visitation from 1:30 until 3:30 p.m.
