Wetmore
Edward Schoenborn, age 86, of West Branch Road, Wetmore, was reunited with his dancing partner, Margette, on Friday, morning, December 14, 2007. He was born on November 16, 1921 in Detroit, Michigan to Stanley and Camilla (Novak) Schoenborn. Ed served in the U.S. Army in during WWII in the EAME Theater. He earned the American & EAME Theater Ribbons, Purple Heart, two bronze stars for battles at Rhineland and Northern France, the Good Conduct Medal and Victory Medal. Ed was an accomplished artist, carpenter and mason, avid outdoorsman (who was most comfortable in a trout stream or hunting), and owner of the West Branch Resort for over forty years. He was preceded in death by his wife of over sixty-nine years - Margette Emelia Gwisdalla on July 30, 2007. Ed is survived by his children - Eric (Sharon) Schoenborn and Sharon Loewe; grandchildren - Michelle, James, Gregory, Michael, and Steven; great-grandchildren - Zella, Abigail, Noah, Christian, Cosmo, and Jacob; a sister - Sophie Hondzinski of Troy; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ed was also preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law - Garry Loewe and siblings - Stanley, Milada, and Alexandra.
Friends may call at the Bowerman Funeral Home on Monday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. A Parish Vigil Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Father Chris Gardiner will conduct a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, December 18, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Munising. Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery in the spring where the Alger County Veterans Council and American Legion Honor Guard will conduct military honors.
