Shingleton
Edwin "Ed" R. Hannah, age 96, of Percy Road, Shingleton, died on Monday evening, January 10, 2011 at Marquette General Hospital. He was born on November 17, 1914, in Mason County, Michigan to Harvey and Ola (Shook) Hannah. Ed came to the U.P. with Rev. Anderson while trying to start the Church of God in the Shingleton area. While working on the construction of the church he met and then married Gladys Humphery on May 24, 1941, and together they raised their three children. Ed worked for many years in the woods at different logging camps and then saw mills, working for Frank and Lud Carr. He began working at C.C.I. in 1962 and then retired from Timber Products in 1981. Ed loved his music. He played the piano and guitar, a trait he passed on to his two sons, teaching them both how to play on his original guitar. Ed also enjoyed fly fishing for trout in the Anna River, planting his gardens around his home, and putting together puzzles in the winter. Anyone who knew Ed, liked him, he was an easy going man who never complained.
Ed is survived by his wife of over sixty-nine years - Glady of Shingleton; two sons - Edwin (Sandy) Hannah and Lloyd (Dorothy) Hannah, both of Shingleton; brother - Maurice Hannah of White Cloud, MI; sister - Lillian Ringler of White Cloud; seven grandchildren - Bob (Rachelle) Hannah, Jim (Michele) Hannah, Sherry (Kevin) Clark, Caroyln (Craig) Wellman, Renee Hannah, Lori (Scott) Ameling, and Lisa (Tony) Pospichal; eight great-grandchildren - Bradly, Brenden, Mikayla, Leslie, Brett, Mathew, Shawn, and Brian; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter - Lois Rieckman; brothers - Clifford (Grace) Hannah and Jim (Bertha) Shook; sister - Leola (Leroy) Coffman; sister-in-law - Bertha Hannah; and brother-in-law - Walter Ringler.
