Traunik / Marquette
Ernalee M. Dawson, age 79, of Marquette and formerly of Traunik died following a brief illness on Wednesday morning, November 23, 2011 at home under the loving care of her daughters and Lake Superior Hospice. She was born on May 16, 1932 in Utica, Michigan to the late Lawrence and Alice (Wilbur) Hebert and was raised in the Detroit area. Ernalee married Ross E. Dawson and together they raised their two daughters. She went to beauty school and became a beautician owning her own shop downstate and in Traunik. Ernalee was very giving with her time and talents. She served on the Board for St. Vinnie's and worked many years on the gift baskets. Ernalee was a member of St. Rita's Church and volunteered during their Fall Festival. She enjoyed sewing, loved to bake, and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law - Carla and Howard Emard of Traunik and Donna and Edward Selvoski of Sheboygan, WI; grandchildren - Brianna and Sydney Emard and Sara and Dawson Selvoski; sisters - Nancy Cook of Munising and Marilyn Hoemke of Marquette; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ernalee was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ross, brothers Larry and Patrick Hebert, and sisters Jean Marie Hebert, Patsy Charland, Alice Hanson and Wanda Drumsta.
A memorial mass will be celebrated by Father Jacek Wytklo on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Rita Church in Trenary. Committal prayers will take place at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising at 12:00 noon.
