Eulene Catherine Skszek, age 95, of Sumpter Township, died peacefully at Superior Woods nursing home early Saturday morning, February 17, 2018.
Eulene is the dear mother of Penelope (the late Benjamin, d. 2003) Loeb of Muskegon, and dear friends Doug Bledsoe of Belleville and Dee Blevins of Indiana.
Sadly, she is preceded in death by her husband of Joseph Skszek (d. 2013); siblings Thelma, Jeanne, Mildred, Harold, Clayton, Elizabeth, Priscilla, Francis, Jack, Marna and Dennis.
A long-time Belleville resident, Eulene graduated in 1941 from Munising High School. Following graduation, she enlisted in the Army Air Corps during the Second World War. Mrs. Skszek was a devout parishioner of both Sacred Heart Church of Munising and St. Anthony's Church of Belleville. Eulene enjoyed gardening, singing at weddings and playing cards. She truly was a very regal woman, and will be missed.
A funeral service was held at 11 AM on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 in the main chapel of the David C. Brown Funeral Home of Belleville (734) 697-4500.
Interment will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery, Munising on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion and Vietnam Veterans Honor Guard and prayers will be conducted by Father Chris Gardiner of Sacred Heart Church.
In lieu of customary tributes, memorial contributions in her memory may be directed to the Knights of Columbus of Sacred Heart Church, 110 W. Jewel St., Munising, MI 49862.
