Eunice "Toots" Stimac, age 95, of 200 W. City Park Drive, Munising, and longtime Shingleton resident died on Sunday evening, December 9, 2012 at Marquette General Hospital following a brief illness. She was born on February 27, 1917 at the Double Jack Logging Camp in High Bend to Harry and Ida (Wright) Travis. Eunice grew up in the Melstrand area. She married George J. Stimac on May 27, 1933. Toots was a homemaker and raised her children. She also worked for the Munising Township Election Board. Toots loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed their birthday parties, visits, bird rides in the woods that ended with onion rings, and hunting with George, Chuck, and Mae. Eunice took care of George throughout their married life which lasted over seventy-four years when George preceded her in death on September 6, 2007.
Toots is survived by her son - Ronald Stimac of Munising; daughter and son-in-law - Judy and Jim Hill of Munising; daughter-in-law - Babe Stimac of Shingleton; seventeen grandchildren - Bruce, Cindy, Kim, Mark, Joni, Chuck, Ruth, Paul, Donna, Ron, Mike, Scott, Jim, Linda, Janet, Bob, and Kathy; and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband George, father Harry Travis, mother Ida Kessler, stepfather Kenneth Kessler; sons - Charles "Chuck and Dennis "Denny" Stimac; daughter - Ida Graves; son-in-law Joe Graves, daughter-in-law Clara "Punk" Stimac, great-grandson Preston, and great-great-grandson Adam.
Services will be held at the Bowerman Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 12, 2012. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Pastor Robert Tripp will conduct the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home's chapel. Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery and she will be escorted by her grandchildren.
