Munising
Evelyn N. Lemley, age 95, of Munising, died Friday, December 19, 2008 at Munising Memorial Hospital. She was born on September 16, 1913 in Munising to the late Eric and Carrie (Norlin) Norberg. Evelyn was a 1932 graduate of Wm. G. Mather High School in Munising. On March 27, 1937 she married Clarence J. Lemley. Evelyn worked for many years at Michigan Gas and Electric which became UPPCO and retired from there in 1969. After retirement Evelyn and Clarence moved to the Florida Keys so they could be closer to their daughters and their families. While living in the Keys she returned to Munising for the summers before moving back here in 2000. Evelyn was a member of the Eden Evangelical Lutheran Church in Munising where she was baptized, confirmed, and married. She was also the organist there for many years starting when she was a teenager. Evelyn was a very important part to both her church and family which she loved very much.
She is survived by her two daughters - Karen Scott and Margaret Gosselin both of Munising; five granddaughters - Carrie (Willy) Peters, Michele (Mike) Albright, Kristi (Steve) Dausey, Connie (Troy) Nelson all of Munising, and Betsy (Paul) Dagenais of Escanaba; thirteen great-grandchildren - Landon and Logan Peters, Ian and Kayla Albright, Bruce, Stevie, and Mickie Dausey, Lauren, Connor, and Jack Nelson, and Paige, Megan, and Jordan Dagenais; nephew - Glenn Davis; Niece - Mary (Tom) Ahasic; and cousin - Vera Norlin Dott. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband of forty-four years Clarence; sons-in-law - Gary Scott and Bruce Gosselin; brother - Bernard (Marjorie) Norberg; sisters - Helen Norberg and Mabel (Bob) Davis; niece - Carol Davis-Leslie; and great-grandson - Devin Albright
A memorial service will be conducted by Rev. Jon Magnuson on Saturday, December 27, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Eden Evangelical Lutheran Church in Munising. Interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in the Spring.
