Fay M. (Smith) Fedoruk, age 85, of Munising, died Thursday morning, March 17, 2022 at her home under the loving care of her family and North Woods Home Hospice. She was born on June 28, 1936 to Glen and Theressa (Schlehuber) Smith. As a child, Fay’s family moved around and she attended school in Moran, Pickford, and Chicago before the family settled in Marquette. Fay graduated from Graveraet High School in 1954. She had worked throughout high school at the Red Owl where she met her future husband, Phil Fedoruk. They were married on June 22, 1957. Fay worked briefly at the Union National Bank in Marquette before starting their family. She was a homemaker while her children were young and stayed home raising their four children. Their young family moved to Munising with Phil’s job in 1960. As the kid’s got older, Fay worked at Hiawatha TV which she and Phil eventually purchased the business. She then owned and operated Fay’s Boutique for seven years, and then she went to work for the Munising Community Credit Union.
Fay was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Church where she and her friends were dedicated members of the prayer line. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxilary. She enjoyed being outside and she and Phil spent many hours sitting on the front porch people watching and visiting with friends as they strolled by their home. They enjoyed snowmobiling together, taking rides around town, and spoiling every dog they ever owned. Fay cherished family gatherings and was at peace when they were all together and would always state, “This is nice.” She was a wonderful mother and grandmother who was present for six of her grandchildren’s births. Fay was a talented crocheter and she always had the dream of purchasing an RV and letting Patty drive her around the country. She was a faithful woman who took great comfort in: For I can do everything through Christ who gives me strength. Philippians 4:13
Fay is survived by her loving husband of almost sixty-five years – Phil Fedoruk of Munising; children – Phil (Taty) Fedoruk of Summerville, SC, Michelle Fedoruk of Mobile, AL, and Patty Fedoruk of Munising; son-in-law – Jim Tyner of Wetmore; grandchildren – Brad, Derick, Amanda, Nichole, Jessica “Faye”, Deanna, Aimee, and Nick; great grandchildren – Casey, Javanti, Ava, Lily, Henry, Ariya, Kaleb, Auna, Tye, Tristen, Trent, Tevin, CJ and Peyton.
