G. Priscilla Lindquist

June 8, 1926 — December 2, 2008

Munising
G. Priscilla Lindquist, age 82, of Fir Street Munising passed away quietly on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 surrounded by her family at the Tendercare Health Center in Munising. Priscilla "Celia" was born on June 8, 1926 to Elson and Madeline (Wier) Carberry. She graduated from Mather High School in 1945. On May 4, 1946, she married Gunnard Lindquist and together they raised seven children. They had fifty years together when he passed away in 1996. Pricilla was very active in the community and with her family. She was known as the "oldest kid that lived on Diaper Alley". She was the first one to sleigh ride down the hill and complained when the City sanded it so she couldn't go down. Priscilla always enjoyed sports and was usually out with the kids playing ball or swimming and just having fun. Even with seven children of her own, there was always room in her heart for more. No one was ever turned down for a sandwich or a bed. Priscilla enjoyed ice skating on TV, watching the Packers, and making puzzles. She had quite the collection of Norman Rockwell memorabilia and was an avid coin collector just completing her State Quarter Collection. She is going to be greatly missed during maple syrup season in the spring. Priscilla belonged to the Lincoln School PTA, Alger County Historical Society, Munising Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Ladies Wednesday Night Gym Class, and had sixty-two years of service with the American Legion Auxiliary, serving in many capacities in each organization. She was also a member of the United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women's Organization.
Priscilla is survived by her seven children - G. Michael (Pam Adams), Peter, Larry (Bonnie), Harry (Ruth), Evelyn (Willis) Childress all of Munising, George (Julie) of Negaunee Twp., and David (Cindy) of Hortonville, WI; seventeen grandchildren - Laura (Christopher), Melissa, Nathan (Evie), Mary Ellen (Greg), Joseph (Amy), Kate (Chris), Tracy (Johan), Adam, Jason, Daniel (Cecelia), Frank (Jen), Deborah (Charles), Christopher, Sheryl (Matt), Dorothy (Keith), Anna, and Mikaela; sixteen great-grandchildren; brother - Jack Carberry; twin sister - Barbara Carberry; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents - Elson Sr. and Madeline Carberry; husband - Gunnard; brother - Elson Jr. "Sonny"; brothers-in-law - Edwin, Carl William, Walter and John Harold Lindquist; sisters-in-law - Dillie Lindquist, Jennie Lindquist, Ellen Lindquist, Jean Carberry, and Bertha Carberry.
The family would like to thank Celia's best friend, Kewpie Gage for all of her support and loving care during this trying time. Also a big thank you to the staff at Tendercare, Dr. Gerald, and her roommate Wanita Rasey.
Priscilla's visitation will be on Thursday, December 4, 2008 at the Bowerman Funeral Home from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Pastor Gary Stevens will conduct her funeral on December 5, at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Munising. Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery.
