Shingleton
Gene W. Hall, age 75, of Carlson Road in Shingleton, died Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Munising Memorial Hospital. He was born on June 17, 1937 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Louis and Anna (Comley) Hall. In his younger years Gene was a star basketball player, receiving a scholarship to play in college. He was an avid sports fan watching his beloved Tennessee Titans, Kentucky Wildcats, and Detroit Red Wings. Gene had moved to Detroit and began working for Chrysler and then for Alloy Tech in Grand Rapids. While at Alloy Tech Gene met his wife Patricia Patrick and they were married on October 4, 1980. They then moved to Tennessee where Gene was able to enjoy his love of country music. Gene and Pat attended many concerts, fan fairs, and performances at the Grand Ole Opry. They were able to meet and became friends with numerous country stars like Jack Greene, Connie Smith, Margo Smith, and Bill Anderson. In 2003 Gene and Pat moved to the U.P. to be closer to family. Gene never met a stranger, within five minutes he had shared his life story and was on to learning about your story.
He is survived by his wife of thirty-two years - Pat; son - Wayne; sister - Sandra (Charles) Miller; step-children - John F. (Glynne Ellen), James R. (Suellen), and Joseph M. VanDyke, and Julie M. Bailey; eleven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Gene was preceded in death by his parents.
