Genevieve "Jenny" Nelc

Genevieve "Jenny" Nelc, age 88, of W. City Park Drive, Munising, died on Wednesday morning, October 19, 2011 at Marquette General Hospital following a brief illness. She was born in Munising and raised at Frog Hollow. Jenny Erochinski graduated from Sacred Heart School. She married Frank Nelc on May 17, 1947. They were married over forty-nine years when he preceded her in death on August 1, 1996. Jenny worked at the Munising Paper Mill, in the kitchen at The Three Sisters and Mary's Grill and she cleaned at the Knotty Club. She enjoyed her daily drives to town, visiting with friends at the Senior Center, and having coffee with the ladies. She was a nature lover and enjoyed watching the birds and animals. Jenny was helpful and friendly and she adored her family.
Her family includes her parents and Frank who preceded her in death. Jenny and Frank had four children. Frank and Jodi Nelc live in Neenah, WI and their children are Misti, Jeremy, Nick, Melissa and Victoria. Her daughter Ruth preceded her in death in 1999. Ruth and her husband Dennis Kasubowski of Ishpeming have daughters Kate, Laura and Jo. Diane Nelc lives in Townwater, WA and her daughter is Eva. Rosemary and Ed Balko live in Holland, MI and their children are Will, Natasha and Ryan. Twelve great-grandchildren survive Jenny - Alders, Charlie, Landon, Mason, Madden, Max, Hunter, Haruka, Sadie, Siera, Dimetri and Quinley. Jenny was also preceded in death by her brothers John, Stanley and Joseph Kulkulka and sisters Mary Cindrowski, Edith Maki, Anna Johns and Rosie Kulkulka.
Jenny's services will be held at the Bowerman Funeral Home on Monday, October 24, 2011. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Jerry Howard will conduct Jenny's funeral service in the funeral home's chapel. Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising. A fellowship luncheon will be at the Munising Township Hall in Wetmore following the services.
