George Emanuel Gustafson, age 77, of Munising died unexpectedly late Friday afternoon, October 28, 2011 at the Superior Health Haven in Munising. He was born in Negaunee to Joseph and Martha (Thomas) Gustafson on October 2, 1934. George was raised in Carlshend and attended school in Flint for deaf and mute children. He attended church in Carlshend and then Calvary Free Lutheran Church in Eben when he lived with his sister, Ruth. George was very social and enjoyed being around people. He would people watch at the casino and he remembered everyone that he met.
He is survived by nieces, nephew and cousins. George was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Martha, his sister Ruth Brown and his brother August Gustafson.
Pastor Tom Schierkolk of the Calvary Free Lutheran Church will conduct graveside services at the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Skandia on Sunday, November 6, 2011 at 3:00 p.m.
