George Erwin Livermore, age 92, of Olson Road in VanMeer, passed at the Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette on Friday evening, May 31, 2024. He was born in Shingleton on February 24, 1932 to the late Floyd and Edith Livermore. George went to school in Shingleton and then at a young age went to work in the woods with his dad. George was in Korea and served in the U.S. Army from November 10, 1950 to January 23, 1954. Following his honorable discharge, he returned home and married Eleanor Besaw and together they raised their five children. George spent his lifetime working in the woods. He was a member of the American Legion. George was his own mechanic, and he enjoyed the outdoors – especially hunting, fishing, berry picking, and working in his gardens.
George is survived by his wife of over 68 years – Eleanor Livermore; children – Cathy (Jim) LeBlanc of Brimley, Harold (Ursula) Livermore of Shingleton, Larry (Lorna) Livermore of Brimley, Philip (Stephanie) Livermore of VanMeer, and Linda (Steve) Rupp of Midland, MI; fourteen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; sister – Edith Livermore of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.
Graveside services and military honors will be announced at a later date.
