George William "Bill" "Pete" MacKenzie, age 78 of Munising, died Saturday, July 21, 2012 at Marquette General Hospital. He was born on May 4, 1934 in Munising to the late George and Alice (McPhee) Mackenzie. Bill attended Wm. G. Mather High School and was a member of the football team. He married Donna Bower on September 14, 1968. Bill was a fireman and fire truck driver for many years. He loved the outdoors, whether he was going for a swim or a ride on the back roads with Donna to watch the sunset. Bill was a funny quick witted man who could lighten the mood with a good joke. He was a good father and loved his grandchildren.
Bill is survived by his wife of over forty-three years - Donna of Munising; children - Randy (Deb) Vining of Chatham, Geraldine Vining of Munising, Steven Vining of Christmas, Dianna (Gary) Ackley of VanMeer, Lisa (Mark) Ozoga of Manistique, Jeanne (Tracy) Segerstrom of Christmas, and Bryan (Ruth) MacKenzie of Yorkville, IL; twenty-five grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; sister - Cathy Brown of Lansing, MI; sister-in-law - Joy Bower of Muskegon, MI, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings - Bob, Jerry, and Margaret; and grandson - Jacob.
