Gerald "Jerry" Goss

Gerald "Jerry" Goss, age 53, of Munising, died on Saturday morning, March 7, 2015 unexpectedly but peacefully in his sleep at his home. He was born on July 9, 1961 in Lawton, Oklahoma to the late Charles "Chuck" and Margreta (Belz) Goss, Sr. Jerry grew up all over the country and in Germany while his dad served in the U.S. Army. He graduated from Munising High School in 1980 and after graduation he moved to Elkhart, Indiana. Jerry worked in a tool and die shop, a plastics factory, and he began cooking in Indiana. When his father became ill, Jerry returned to Munising to help care for him. He cooked for many years at Foggy's. Jerry had a passion for sports. He enjoyed umpiring and refereeing for the local softball, baseball, and football teams. Jerry was a talented bowler and he enjoyed playing golf. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and supporting his teams - the Miami Dolphins, Milwaukee Brewers, and LA Lakers. Jerry teams were always defended by him and when they lost, he usually blamed the referees or coaches. He also enjoyed teasing and arguing with those he loved.

Jerry is survived by his stepmother - Eleanor Goss of Munising; siblings - Bill Goss of Covington, GA, Chuck Goss (Betty) of Coco Beach, FL, John (Svitlana) Goss of Munising, Tina Goss of Elkhart, IN, and Joann Washburn of Elkhart, IN; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; step-siblings - Jim Bonner of Ohio, Norman "Sonny" Bonner of Munising, Joe (Katie) Bonner of Munising, Tom Bonner of Lower Michigan, Mary (Shaun) Flynn of Munising, and Debbie (Brian) Mann of Missouri. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Chuck and Margreta and by his step sister-in-law - Carmella Bonner.

Visitation will be held at the Bowerman Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Munising.
