Gerald "Jerry" W. Long, age 74, of Round Lake in Wetmore and formerly of Trenary, died following a brief illness on Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at his home with his family at his side. He was born on May 30, 1935 in Yale, Michigan to the late Tony and Marjorie (McIntyre) Long. Jerry graduated from Yale High School and then served in the U.S. Marine Corps in Camp Pendleton, California from 1954 until 1957. He worked for General Motors as a wood model maker for ten years and then worked for numerous other shops as their model maker. Jerry married Connie (Delisi) Moore on September 3, 1965 and they resided in Utica and Richmond before finding Trenary. Together they owned and operated the Trenary Tavern from 1977 until 1991. They both enjoyed the work and the people. They retired to Round Lake and built their home from scratch. Jerry was a member of the American Legion, Masonic Lodge in Brockway, and a Life Member of the AMVETS. He loved socializing, his wood shop, good times on his lake with family and friends, and Jerry always had a joke to share.
