Geraldine “Gerry” Karr, age 93, of Munising died on Monday afternoon, April 15, 2024 at Medilodge of Munising following a brief stay there. She was born in Munising, the second oldest child of Royal and Dorothy (Lahaie) Savoie on June 25, 1930. Gerry graduated from Sacred Heart School and then helped at her home raising her ten younger sisters. Gerry married Richard “Rich” Karr on June 11, 1949. They would have celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary this June. Gerry worked around Munising at jobs that included the Munising Paper Mill, Red Cedar, Chevy’s News, and Denman’s Department Store. Gerry enjoyed attending craft shows and knitting. She and Rich traveled to 46 states on their Honda Goldwing.
Gerry is survived by her husband – Rich Karr of Munising; daughters – Ann (Bob) Mals of Shingleton and Deby (Jim) Casey of Munising; ten grandchildren – Nicole Peterson Flores, Derek (Sarah) Peterson, Bobby Mals, Jennifer Warner, Owen (Sarah) Warner, Russ (Elisa) Card, Gregg (Phyllis) Murk, Justin Murk, Misty (Gary) Gurski, and Erin (Jake) Wallace; eighteen great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant daughter Patty June Karr, daughter Lois Helsel, brother Al, and sisters Joyce, Phyllis, Irene, Pat, Mary, Jean, Carol, Janet, Vicky, and Linda.
Private graveside services will be held at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising.
