Gladys Lucille Hannah

May 20, 1923 — December 23, 2015

Gladys Lucille Hannah, age 92, of Shingleton, died under the loving care of her family and North Woods Hospice on Wednesday morning, December 23, 2015 at her home. She was born on May 20, 1923 in Van Meer, Michigan on Johnson Road to the late Melvin and Edith (Wilkes) Humphrey. Gladys married Edwin R. Hannah on May 24, 1941 at the Livermore Family Farm on Percy Road. Together they raised their three children: Edwin H. and twins Lloyd E. and Lois M. Gladys and Edwin were married for over sixty-nine years, they adored each other and lived out a love story for all to see and admire. She was heartbroken when Edwin died on January 10, 2011. Gladys and Edwin had a very strong life long and faithful religion, attending church regularly and working hard for the Lord. Gladys was a member of the Church of God that was located in Shingleton and then began attending the Wesleyan Church in Munising 1969. She was the kind of person who would give the shirt off her back if you needed it and she would go without. She helped out over all the years to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and others, out of love and respect for them. Gladys enjoyed reading the Bible, saying her prayers, and watching daily TV programs - Price is Right, Days of Our Lives, religious programs on Sundays, Lawrence Welk, and Alaska Family programs about nature and animals. She also enjoyed flower gardens, cooking, and baking. She always had a house full of families and friends, and enjoyed going on picnics with them, and helping with church potlucks too. Gladys also enjoyed circle a word puzzles and reading the Munising News every Wednesday. Gladys and Edwin and their family took trips to Canada, Lower Michigan, etc. Gladys loved going visiting with families for coffee and catching up on the news, and talking to them on the phone. Over the past few years, Gladys was confined to a wheelchair and her sons and daughters-in-law took care of her needs and home visits several times daily.

She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law - Edwin and Sandy and Lloyd and Dorothy Hannah all of Shingleton; son-in-law - John Rieckman; grandchildren - Robert (Rachelle) Hannah, James (Michelle Price) Hannah, Sherry (Kevin) Clark, Carolyn (Craig) Wellman, Renee Hannah, Lori (Scott) Ameling, and Lisa (Tony) Pospichal; great-grandchildren - Leslie, Brett, Brad, Brenden, Mikayla, Bryan, Matthew and Shawn; great-great-granddaughter- Mckenzie Ann Hannah; siblings - George (Eleanor) Livermore, Mary Colton, and Edith Rowe; sister-in-law - Naomi Livermore; and brother-in-law - Morrie Hannah.
