Gordon L. Yell, age 85, of Munising, died Thursday, October 18, 2012 at the Tendercare Health Center in Munising. He was born on April 12, 1927 to the late John and Ellen (Peterson) Yell. Gordon married Flossie Louise Aymour on June 21, 1975. He had lived in Munising his entire life, working for Munising Wooden Ware in his early years, and then retired from the City of Munising in 1991, after working for twenty years as a fire truck driver. Gordon enjoyed visiting with friends and family, working on small engines, and fishing. He was a proud member of the Ahmed Shriners, Grand Island Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons, and the Order of the Eastern Star. Gordon worked hard and put his whole heart into anything he did. He was a beloved grandfather and devoted father.
Gordon is survived by his daughter - Ann (Dave) Warzak of Munising; granddaughters - Kayla and Ashley Yell; sisters - Priscella Revord of Brevort, MI, Dorothy Twork of Conklin, MI, Helen Steinhoff of Marquette, Bev (Dick) Oas of Munising, and Virginia DuFour of Albuquerque, NM; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Flossie Louise Yell on January 16, 1989; parents - John and Ellen; sister - Beatrice Szarowicz; and brother - John Yell.
Visitation will be on Sunday, October 21, 2012 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Bowerman Funeral Home. At 7:00 p.m. the Order of the Eastern Star will start a service for Gordon to be immediately followed by the Grand Island Masonic Lodge. His funeral will be conducted by Pastor Elisabeth Zant on Monday, October 22, 2012 at the Eden Evangelical Lutheran Church at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery.
