Munising
Gregory Joseph Larsen, age 27, of DePere, Wisconsin and formerly of Munising, died unexpectedly on Sunday, May 9, 2010. He was born in Munising on December 6, 1982 to Mike and Sally (Johnson) Larsen. Greg grew up in Munising and graduated from Munising High School in 2001. During his high school career, he played football and basketball and ran track for the Munising Mustangs. Following graduation, he attended St. Norbert's College where he also played football for the Green Knights. Greg worked in the marble and granite industry where he installed and created beautiful countertops and furniture. His most recent job was installing tile and tile work. Greg had lived in the Green Bay area for the past eight years. He loved hunting and fishing - especially bow hunting. Greg enjoyed getting his tree stand up and waiting for the deer to show up. He loved children and enjoyed being a dad and uncle. Greg had a trusting and loving way about him where children would surround him. His smile and blue eyes could light up any room and Greg led with his big heart. He was a friend to all and he never judged anyone.
He is survived by his daughter - Taylor Jayne Larsen; parents - Mike and Sally Larsen of Munising; sister - Sarah Larsen of DePere; brothers - Mike (Larissa) Larsen of DePere and Paul (Christina) Larsen of North Tonawanda, NY; niece - Olivia Emily Murphy (Uncle Greg was her favorite); nephew - Jacob Paul Larsen; grandmother - Catherine Larsen of Escanaba; aunts and uncles - Jane (Fred) Hnilica, John Anderson, Jack Johnson, Nonie (Steve) Van Effen, Mollie Larsen, Kitty (Keith) Picord, Pat (Barb) Larsen, and Tari Calouette; and numerous cousins and friends. Greg was preceded in death by his grandparents Millard Larsen and Arlene and Norbert Johnson and aunts Susan Anderson and Marilyn Hutchinson.
Visitation will be held at the Bowerman Funeral Home on Thursday, May 13, 2010 from 10:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Chris Gardiner at Sacred Heart Church at 3:30 p.m. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Escanaba on Friday, May 14, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. with Father Francis DeGroot presiding over committal prayers.
