Harlow W. Patten, age 65 of Munising, and formerly of Rock, died Thursday, February 5, 2015 at his home under the loving care of his family and Northwoods Home Hospice. He was born on October 30, 1949 to Harold and Donna (Zimmerman) Patten in Flint, Michigan. Harlow was a Vietnam Veteran serving in the U.S. Army. He worked for some time as a machinist for Engineered Machined Products in Escanaba, and then moved to Munising in 1993. While in Munising he worked many years as a custodian at the Eden Lutheran Church. Harlow enjoyed wood working and feeding and watching the wild animals at his home. He had a passion for all of the wildlife, from the bear, the sandhill cranes nesting in the yard, or the deer feeding in his apple orchard.

Harlow is survived by his wife - Rita Patten of Munising; step-son - Mike Hazard of Marquette; mother - Donna Lund of Escanaba; sisters - Colleen (Pat Dornfeld) Hurkman and Sue Ann Henning both of Rock; brother - Matt (Kim) Lund of Escanaba; four nephews; and sister-in-law - Virginia (Bob) Wilson of Trout Lake. He was preceded in death by his father Harold and niece Doneen.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 11, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Eden Lutheran Church in Munising. Rev. David Hueter will conduct Harlow's funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery on Friday, June 12, 2015 at 2:30 p.m.
