Chatham
Harriet June Hill, age 79, formerly of Chatham, died early Thursday morning, November 19, 2015 at the Tendercare Health Center in Munising. She was born on July 3, 1936 in Trenary, Michigan to the Late Richard and Anna (Albright) Brill. Harriet married Albert "Bernie" Hill on April 28, 1956 and together they raised their five children. Harriet worked for many years as a cook at Mrs. Claus's Kitchen, The Waterfront, Pictured Rocks Golf Course, and the Village Pub. After she retired from cooking, she began a second career that she loved. Harriet babysat her grandchildren every opportunity that she had, and she enjoyed doing crafts with them and picnics in the backyard. She also enjoyed baking, walking her dog, making Christmas trees out of old Reader's Digest books, and enjoying walks and coffee with her dear friend, Linda Seppi. Harriet's favorite time of the year was the Escanaba State Fair, and if one of the kid's went without bringing her an Elephant Ear, they were in big trouble. She and Bernie loved to follow Maudie wherever she was playing. They would sing and dance, and Bernie would break out his harmonica to play with Maudie. Harriet was a member of the Sion Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her children - Reino (Louise) Hill of Colorado, Norbert "Nub" Hill, Ella "Duff" Hill and Becky (Brady Johnson) Hill, all of Chatham, Kim (Julie) Hill of Eben, and former daughter-in-law, Sherry Karvinen; eleven grandchildren - Coby (Michael), Nova (Simmeon), Amanda, Chelsie, Ayes, Rydan, Diane (Rob), Jennifer, Brooke, Samantha, and Justyn; eight great-grandchildren - Raina, Kalen, Jalen, Trent, Neveh, Cole, Hunter, and Jalyn; sisters - Kate (Norbert) Weber and Vangie (Bob) Demuse; dear friend - Linda Seppi, and numerous nieces and nephews. Harriet was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bernie, and siblings Viola (Frank) Green, Shirley (Swede) Jussila, Esther (Thirley) Johnson, Richard Brill, Sophie (Donald) Kallio, and Betty (Raymond) Russel.
