Munising
Helen Janet Carr, age 95, of Munising, died Monday evening, May 21, 2018 at the MediLodge in Munising with her daughter at her side. Helen was born on June 26, 1922 in Madison, Wisconsin to George and Sena (Mickelson) Robb. She grew up in Madison and graduated from East High School. Helen attended an accelerated program at Whitewater Teacher’s College where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She moved to Munising where she taught second grade at Wm. G. Mather. Miss Robb met and married Ludwig Carr on August 21, 1948. Helen and Lud purchased The Brown Derby in Christmas and she worked the books for the bar and raised their daughter. They eventually sold the business, and Lud and Helen’s brother George Robb went into the logging business together. Helen continued to use her book keeping skills for Carr & Robb Logging. Helen was a longtime member of Eden Lutheran Church and volunteered her decorating skills wherever they were needed for church banquets and events. She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for many years. Helen’s artistic skills carried over to oil painting where she donated many paintings to the church bazaar. She kept a beautiful flower garden and was a member of a textile painting club that transformed into a cards and social group. Helen also enjoyed traveling to Arizona to visit her grandchildren and Florida to visit her sister.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Donna and Kirk Anderson of Phoenix, granddaughter Bonnie Jean Anderson of Seattle, grandson Ben Anderson of Phoenix, brother Harold (Doris) Robb of Beloit, WI, and numerous nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her parents George and Sena, brothers Donald and George Robb, and sister Florence (Peter) Raggio.
Helen’s family would like to give a special thanks to the loving and supporting staff at MediLodge.
A memorial service will be held at the Eden Lutheran Church in Munising on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising.
