Hilda M. Iho, age 94, of Lake Placid, Florida and formerly of Trenary, died early Tuesday morning, June 14, 2016 at the Vitas Hospice Facility in Florida. She was born in Trenary on November 2, 1921 to John and Lydia (Linna) Rautio. Hilda grew up in Trenary, graduated from Trenary High School, and attended a business school in Ypsilanti. She married Arnold Iho on July 7, 1945 and together they raised their two sons. Hilda worked as a bookkeeper at the Trenary Co-op, Gambles in Marquette, Gwynns in Birminham, Michigan, and Finnish-American Rest Home in Lake Worth, Florida. Hilda and Arnold moved to Florida in 2000 and she was an active member of the First Assembly of God in Lake Placid. She enjoyed reading and was a wonderful seamstress. Hilda was also an excellent caregiver to her husband who had to medically retire at the age of fifty-one. Arnold preceded her in death in 2003.
Hilda is survived by her sons, David Iho of Lake Placid, FL, Jonathan (Cathleen) Iho of West Palm Beach, FL; sisters, Helen (Duane) Lietha of Fort Myers, FL and Thelma (Edward) Paramski of Libertyville, IL; her granddaughter - Angela Santee of West Palm Beach, FL; and numerous nieces in nephews. She was also preceded in death by her father John Rautio, mother Lydia Rautio Saari, step-father Arthur Saari, and step-sister Marlene Rose.
Pastor Jason Janich of the New Life Assembly of God Church in Escanaba will conduct graveside services at the Mathias Township Cemetery in Trenary on Friday, June 24, 2016 at 3:00 p.m.
