Inez Jones, age 86, of Knox Street in Wetmore, died late Thursday evening, April 1, 2010 at the Tendercare Health Center in Munising where she had been a resident the last 2 ½ years. She was born on July 29, 1923 in White River, Ontario to the late Frank and Ethel (Sygrave) Woods. Inez was raised in Lower Michigan and attended school there. She married Raymond George Jones on July 14, 1945. Inez worked for Mount Clemons Pottery from 1942 - 1971. After her retirement, she and Ray moved to the U.P. Inez attended the Wesleyan Church and enjoyed crocheting, gardening, and baking - especially Christmas cookies. She and Raymond were married almost sixty-three years when he preceded her in death on June 26, 2008.
Inez is survived by her daughter - Ann Bresnan of Wetmore; grandsons - Raymond (Nancy) Markus of Troy, MI and Rodney Bresnan of Milford, CT; granddaughter - Shay Bresnan of Milford, CT; sisters - Kathy Geiger of Port Orange, FL and Lucy "Susie" Woods of Mt. Clemons, MI; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Raymond, grandson Robert Markus, Jr. and brother Edward "Ted" Woods.
Visitation will be held at the Bowerman Funeral Home on Monday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Rev. Robert Tripp will conduct Inez' funeral service in the funeral home's chapel on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising.
