Isaac Sulo Puro

Eben Junction

Isaac Sulo Puro, age 87, of Eben Junction, died late Sunday afternoon, May 19, 2019 at the Medilodge of Capital Area in Lansing, Michigan.  He was born in Munising on October 25, 1931 to Arvid and Lempe (Cortes) Puro.  Isaac grew up in Eben and graduated from Eben High School.  He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany.  Isaac returned home and married Nancy Jane Matero on March 5, 1955 and together raised their three children.  Isaac worked many years as a welder at the Mather B. Mine.  He and Nancy enjoyed their daily trips to the Eben Snack Bar for food and friendship.  Isaac was a talented woodworker and fabricator.  He was a creative craftsman when making rustic furniture or clocks, and he shared his talents with neighbors and friends.  Isaac could always be found in his beautiful workshop working on a project to help someone.  He also planted over 4000 pine trees on his family’s property.  Isaac and Nancy were married over sixty-three years when she preceded him in death on November 21, 2018.

Isaac is survived by his three children – Jane Puro of Lansing, MI, David Puro of Trenary, MI, and Rhonda (Rik) Miller of Benson, AZ; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Nancy, and his siblings.
