Jacqueline Ann Halstead

Jacqueline “Jackie” Ann Halstead, age 94, of Munising, died Monday, July 18, 2016 at her son’s home in Fenton, Michigan under the loving care of her family and St. Joseph Mercy Hospice.  She was born in Detroit, Michigan to the late Raymond and Ann (Beauchene) Madigan.  Jackie earned her bachelor’s degree from Marygrove College and then went to the University of Detroit for her master’s degree.  Jackie married Charles R. Halstead on June 21, 1947 and together they raised their five children.  Jackie taught for over twenty-nine years in Detroit.  In 1980, Jackie and Charles retired and moved to Munising.  She enjoyed traveling around the world with Charles, reading, and playing cards.  Jackie was a member of Sacred Heart Church and the Munising Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

She is survived by her five children – Thomas (Jeanie) Halstead of Prescott Valley, Arizona, Nancy (Dr. Ken) Lageroos of Falmouth, Maine, Robert (Penny) Halstead of Fenton, Mary (Dr. John) Passamani of Prescott, Arizona, Dr. Timothy (Dr. Sheila Kirt) Halstead of Concord, Michigan; fourteen grandchildren – Dr. Mark Halstead (Nicole), Brian (Kelli) Halstead, Laura (Aaron) Silva, Erik (Annmarie) Lageroos and Kristy (Ryan) Blaquiere, Scott, Chris (Hillary), Greg (Audrey) and Jeff (Raquel) Halstead, Nick (Jan) Stavropoulos, Danny (Nichole), Joe (Jacqueline), and Steven Passamani, and Kerstin and Alex Halstead; 16 great-grandchildren – Ryne, Owen, Madeline, Kayla, Thomas, Olivia, Michelle, Evelyn, Jason, Kassady, Nicholas, Ania, Oliver, Justin, Violet, Natalie,  Jackie was preceded in death by her parents (Raymond and Ann), husband (Charles on March 2, 1981);

Fr. Chris Gardiner will conduct a Mass of Christian Burial for Jackie on Monday, July 25, 2016 at the Sacred Heart Church in Munising at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.  In Lieu of flowers, donations to St. Joseph Mercy Hospice Livingston County Michigan can be made.
