Munising
Jacquelynn "Jackie" MacArthur, age 65, of N7564 Carmody Road, Munising, died following a brief illness on Saturday, May 13, 2006 at 6:30 p.m. at Marquette General Hospital. She was born on August 6, 1940 in Gladstone, Michigan to the late Willard and Gertrude (Trentin) Pease. Jackie graduate from Wm. G. Mather High School in 1958. She then attended Northern Michigan College and earned her Licensed Practical Nursing Degree. Jackie interned at the Newberry State Hospital and then at the Sault Ste. Marie Hospital. It was there where she met Leo T. MacArthur. Jackie and Leo were married on January 27, 1962 and they moved to Munising. She worked as an L.P.N. at the "Old" Munising Hospital. Jackie and Leo moved to Gladstone for a few years before returning to Munising in 1967. She worked as a nurse for the Superior Health Haven, Munising Memorial Hospital, Superior Shores Nursing Home, MGH Home Health and Hospice, and Tendercare Health Center. Jackie retired from Tendercare. She was an incredible mother and grandmother to not only her biological family, but to many "adopted" family members. If someone had a problem, Jackie had a gift for making things better and knowing just what to do or say to help.
She is survived by her husband of over forty-four years - Leo of Munising; six children - Anne (Everet) McNally, Bill (Debbie) MacArthur, Tom (Donna Johns) MacArthur, Pam (Ron) Leffel, Danelle (Jeff) Holcomb, and Kris (Bobbie Jo) MacArthur all of Munising; daughter-in-law - Linda MacArthur of Munising; grandchildren - Colin (Brie Hancock), Michael, Clifford, and Pami-Jean McNally - Amanda, Billy, Stevi Marie, and Sam MacArthur - Gaylord, Heather, Nicole, and Sara MacArthur - Tashia, Kristi, and Kendra Leffel - Kyle Trentin, and Abby Holcomb - Daniel and Hunter MacArthur - Emily, Megan, and Jordan Tufnell, and another baby on the way; great-grandsons - Quentin and Charlie; sisters - Mary (Bob) Lee of Rapid River and Judy (Bob) Wiedenhaft of Green Bay; sister-in-law - Barb Pease of Munising; numerous nieces and nephews; and her precious dog Scooter and cats Mama Kitty and Paws. Jackie was preceded in death by her parents and brother Vern Pease.
On Wednesday, May 17, 2006, Reverend Deborah Hubbard will conduct a brief prayer service at the Eden Lutheran Church in Munising at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon with Jackie's family will follow the prayer service.
