James “Jim” Thomas Seibert, age 81, of Marquette and formerly of Grand Marais, died at the Jacobetti Home for Veterans on Friday evening, July 5, 2024. He was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin on June 18, 1943 to Harold and Anna (Kelner) Seibert. Jim grew up in Green Bay and graduated from West High School in 1961. He attended Michigan Technological University and then joined the U.S. Navy from 1963-1967. Jim was stationed on the U.S.S. Hancock and attended electrician school while in the service. He married Sharron Bleckiner on November 23, 1968 at St. Michael’s Church in Marquette. Together they raised their three children and celebrated fifty years of marriage before she preceded him in death on December 6, 2018. Jim had worked for the Railroad as an electrician and was promoted to the Superintendent of the Car Department out of Chicago. He eventually left the Railroad and opened Hungry Jim’s Electric in Grand Marais. Jim was a member of the Holy Rosary Church in Grand Marais where he served as President of the Parish Council and sang in the choir for over twenty-five years. Due to failing health, he moved to Marquette to be closer to his family and attended St. Christopher Church there. Jim enjoyed fishing, reading, and playing cards. He dearly loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids and great-grandkids.

He is survived by his children – Paul (Jill) Seibert, Michelle Seibert, and Sean (Michelle) Seibert all of Marquette; grandchildren – Lauren (Randy) Wenzel, Morgan Seibert and fiancé Drew Webber, Justin Aboussleman, Brady (Lauren) Aboussleman, Desirae (Kyle) Fenton, Gabriel Seibert and Caleb Seibert; bonus grandkids – Logan(Carley) Zueger and Garret Zueger; great-grandkids Addison Fenton and Jack Wenzel ; siblings – Patricia, Richard, Mary, Kathy, and Mike; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, wife Sharron, and his brother Joseph who was killed in Vietnam.

A special thank you to the special staff at Jacobetti Home for Veterans and the King Wisconsin Veterans Home for all of the wonderful care they provided. Also, to all of his AA family. He cherished all of the support and friendship over the years.
