Chatham
Dorothy "Jean" Edes, age 78, of Munising Street, Chatham, died following a lengthy illness on Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at 4:10 a.m. at the Tendercare Health Center in Munising. Jean was born in Munising on May 17, 1929 to Vernon and Opal (Mills) Richmond. She married Richard Lancour and they had seven children. In 1956, Jean married Ivan Anderson. They were married twenty years when he preceded her in death in 1976. Jean was a homemaker and was a wonderful mother who always put her family first. She was well known for her crocheting and knitting and in the 1970's, she knitted sweaters for the NMU football coaching staff. Jean also enjoyed gardening, children, friends, and her cats - especially Keeper. Jean had married William "Bill" Edes on June 28, 1986. They were also married twenty years when she was widowed on October 9, 2006. Jean was a member of the congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses - Kingdom Hall in Munising.
Jean is survived by her seven children - Joe (Joan) Lancour of Munising, Jim (Arlene) Lancour of Negaunee, Rick (Donna) Lancour of Traunik, Gary "Buck" (Alice) Lancour of Chatham, Tina Patient of Harvey, Dennis (Cindy) Lancour of Chatham, and Bob (Linda) Lancour of Chatham; one sister - Mildred Reynolds of AuTrain; step-daughter - Diane Posio of Waterford, MI; thirteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by parents Vern and Opal, husbands Ivan and William, step-sons Robert and Paul "Bucky" Anderson, brothers Lawrence and Ronald Richmond, and sister Alice Norlin.
A memorial service will be conducted by Carl Johnson on Friday, August 31, 2007 at 6:00 p.m. at the Bowerman Funeral Home in Munising. Visiting time with family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
