Jean Rose (Provenzano) McCoy

Munising

Jean Rose McCoy, age 87, of Munising, died on Saturday morning, August 12, 2017 at the Tendercare Health Center in Munising following a brief illness.  She was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 8, 1930 to Giuseppe and Anna (Mangano) Provenzano.  Jean grew up in Chicago and graduated from Waller High School in 1958.  She met Ronald Weldon McCoy and they were married on August 11, 1951 and together raised their two sons.  The family moved from Chicago to Marquette and then made their home in Munising.  They were married over forty-four years when Ron preceded her in death on December 8, 1995.  Jean was a member of Sacred Heart Church and a homemaker.  She also worked at the Superior Health Haven and cleaned rooms at the Best Western.  Jean was a great cook and baker, and she enjoyed taking photographs.

She is survived by her sons – Ron McCoy of Munising and Ken (Tammy Seymour) McCoy of Port Orange, FL, grandchildren – Sarah (Nick) Romatz, Lisa (Chad Seaberg) McCoy, and Kenny (Angela Schierschmidt) McCoy; grandson-in-law – Mike St. Amour; great-granddaughters – Natalia and Mila; sisters – Pauline Abruscato of Oswego, IL and Pat (Al) Bruno of Lombard, IL; and nieces and nephews.   Jean was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ron, granddaughter Laura St. Amour, and brothers Anthony and John Provenzano.

Visitation will be held at the Bowerman Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m.  Father Chris Gardiner will celebrate Jean’s Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church in Munising on Friday, August 18, 2017 at 12:00 noon.  Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising.
