Jeffrey Wayne Bond, age 54, of Center Street in Munising, died on Wednesday afternoon, July 6, 2011 at Marquette General Hospital. He was born on September 21, 1956 in Detroit to Keith and Nancy (Wadsworth) Bond. Jeff grew up in Troy, Royal Oak and Ferndale. He graduated from the last all city class in 1975 from Troy High School. While in school, Jeff attended South East Oakland Vocational Education Center in Royal Oak. He worked for Bob's Union 76 as a mechanic and there trained at GM Tech Center in Warren. Jeff went to work at C.F. Long Towing, Shell Stations, Borg Warner and Matic Cheverolet. On January 20, 1979, he married Carolyn Floyed and together they raised their three children. Jeff moved to Powell Lake in September of 1989. He owned and operated Jeffrey Bond Towing and Repair until 2008 when he had to retire due to his health. Jeff was a member of the Moose Lodge and a Retired Member of the Michigan Towing Association. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating on Lake St. Clair and he was a member of the Power Squadron.
Jeff is survived by Carolyn of Texas; children - Tom (Becky) Bond of Negaunee, Robert "Bobby" (Tara) Bond of Munising and Heather (Matt) Evans of Fort Hood, TX; grandchildren - Kyler James Bond, Trinity Michelle Evans and Amelia Louise Evans; parents - Keith and Nancy Bond of Chatham; brothers - Terry Bond of Shingleton, Timmy Bond of Troy, and David (Beth) Bond of Taylor.
Services will be held at the Bowerman Funeral Home on Saturday, July 16, 2011. Visiting time with family and friends will be from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Pastor Robert Tripp will conduct Jeff's memorial service at 4:00 p.m.
