Jennie Marie Knox

April 26, 1921 — February 28, 2009

Wetmore
Jennie Mary Knox passed away on February 28, 2009, at the Tendercare Healthcare Center in Munising. She had been there since February 21, 2009 . She was born on April 26, 1921. She was a woman who spent her entire life in Munising, a community that she loved and was proud of. She was the daughter of Polish immigrants John and Stella Prunick who were among some of the original residents of the area. She was raised in a family of seven children who included four brothers and two sisters and herself. They grew up together in the "Tannery" area of the city. She is survived by her brother Stanley "Cye" Prunick and his wife Nancy. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews as well as brother and sister-in-laws.

She married Robert Edward Knox when she was a young woman in her twenties. Together they built a life together in Wetmore. She lost her "Bob" in 1988 when he passed away.

If we are judged by God for the good deeds we do she indeed will have celestial blessings. She took two children Patty and Mark, adopted them and raised them as her very own. She taught them right from wrong, helped them to get their formal educations and was always there to support and love them. Her son Mark died tragically in an accident in 1990. She kept his memory in her heart until the day that she passed away.

Jennie was the type of person who loved life. She was a helpful neighbor, knew how to be a good friend and was a good colleague while on the job. She retired after having worked previously at Munising Memorial Hospital, a job that she really enjoyed.

Please remember her for her smile and her kind words. Do not be sad because she is at peace with our Creator. Memories and love survive us after death. Keep Jennie in your hearts.

Her family has asked that in lieu of flowers if you would like to honor Jennie give donations in her name to Alger County Department of Human Services in Munising. She was a woman who always had a soft-spot in her heart for children. Therefore by helping poor and less fortunate children who live in Alger County you honor her memory.

The family would also like to thank the medical staff of both Munising Memorial Hospital, and Marquette General Hospital for the excellent care that they gave to Jennie. Additionally, the thank you is extended to Tendercare Healthcare for making her final days comfortable. Last, but not least, a special thank you to Allison and Rick Bowerman for caring and helping out when most needed by her daughter. May God bless you all and watch over you.

Graveside services for Jennie will be held at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising on Saturday, May 30, 2009 at 12:00 noon.
