Jerry Secreast, age 72, of High Street, Munising, died with his family surrounding him at Marquette General Hospital on Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at 1:05 a.m. He was born on April 9, 1934 in Lenior, North Carolina.
Jerry is survived by his wife of over fifty years - Norma Secreast of Munising; three sons and daughters-in-law - Steve and Pam of Portage, MI, Mike and Debi of Laurel, Maryland, and Joe and Shelly of Marquette; daughter and son-in-law - Kim and Jerry Japp of Ishpeming; grandchildren - Jay, Anna, Dylan, David, Danny, Justin, Megan, Ian, Finny, Amber, Ryan, Joe, and Abbey; great-granddaughter - Autumn; brother - Bill (Allene) Secreast of Atlanta, GA; sisters - Barbara (Bill) LeMieux of Lenoir, NC and Betsy (Prentice) Moran of Roanoke, VA; step-father - Glenn Haigler of Lenoir, NC; sisters and brothers-in-law - Dorothy Kuenzer of Munising, Margaret "Umie" Boguth of Warren, MI, Betty Lane of Munising, Ruth Fitzgerald of Munising, Bill (Georgia) Stephens of Kissimmee, FL, and George (Nancy) Stephens of Munising. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Arvel Secreast and Lena Haigler, his son Chuck Secreast in 1981, and his mother and father-in-law, Margaret and Russell Stephens.
Visitation will be held at the Bowerman Funeral Home on Friday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. The Alger County Veterans Council and American Legion Honor Guard will conduct military honors at 7:00 p.m. Deacon Tom Moseley will conduct Jerry's funeral service on Saturday, January 13, 2007 in the funeral home's chapel at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising
