Munising
John "Domo" Dominick, age 57, of 409 W. Onota Street Munising, died unexpectedly on Thursday evening, January 17, 2008. He was born in Munising on July 29, 1950 to the late Arnold "Jake" and Dorothy (Johnson) Dominick. Domo graduated from Sacred Heart School and then from Wm. G. Mather High School in 1968. He had played football, basketball, and the drums in the band for the Mustangs. Domo worked briefly at Kimberly Clark before attending Central Michigan University. He returned home to work with his father at Jake's Auto Body and eventually took over the business for many years. Domo went back to work at the Paper Mill in October of 1984 and was a utility helper in the Finishing Room. Domo successfully completed his three year Millwright apprenticeship in 1997. He held the Millwright position until the time of his retirement from Neenah Paper on August 1, 2006. In February of 1989, John married Beverly L. Bennett. He joined the Munising Volunteer Fire Department over thirty-four years ago in October of 1973. During his service to the Department, Domo was Chief from May of 1999 until December of 2002. He was also a member of the Pictured Rocks Golf Course and enjoyed golf scrambles with his buddies. Domo was proud to have served on the Board when they put in the new nine. He coached a Women's softball team and sponsored a Friday night Women's bowling team. Domo enjoyed four wheeling, serenading "Jeremiah was a Bullfrog", and pontoon rides at camp where he was the "Mayor of Lost Lake." His greatest joy at camp was sitting by the campfire and watching the lake.

He is survived by his wife of nineteen years - Beverly Dominick of Munising; son - Jacob Bennett Dominick at home; daughters - Heather Cook of Howell, Michigan and Nichole (Steve) Welters of Munising; six grandchildren - Jon, Alicia, Andrew, Cheyenne, Kyle, and Alyssa; brother - Richard (Sue) Dominick of Shepherd, Michigan; sisters - Sue (Ed) Phillipson of Blanchard, Michigan and Connie (Bernie) Wirtanen of Munising; parents-in-law - Ellen and Keith Steinhoff of AuTrain; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.
