Munising
John Joseph "Jack" Donnelly, age 74, of 1305 Lake Street, Munising, died at his home on Sunday morning, April 1, 2007 under the care of his home and Northwoods Hospice following a five month illness. He was born on May 30, 1932 in Detroit to the late Murray and Evangeline (Hubbarth) Donnelly. Jack served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was stationed in Germany for the majority of his service time. Jack married Eleanor L. Gollatz on June 2, 1956. He worked as a sheet metal worker for many years and retired from that trade. Jack and Eleanor moved to Munising in October of 1987. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, making fishing lures, camping, and walking with Eleanor and their dog.
Jack is survived by his wife of over fifty years - Eleanor Donnelly of Munising; their children - Murray (Kathi) Donnelly of Munising, Marina (Wayne) Gray of Port Huron, Meiklejohn (Sandy Jackman) Donnelly of Sterling Heights, MI, and Micki (Tim) Allamon of Shelby Twp., MI; grandchildren - David, Kathyann, Clinton, Kevin, Sara, Christopher, Alex, Kevin, Tim, Bryan, and Erica; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild on the way; sisters - Eileen (Donald) Hemme of Cheboygan, MI, Kate Bechard of Lancaster, CA, and Judy McGregor of Frankfurt, MI; brothers - Tom Cheboygan, Patrick (Colleen) of Modesto, CA, and Michael (Mary) of Artesia, CA; numerous nieces and nephews. Jack was also preceded in death by his grandson Alex Donnelly and a sister Molly Donnelly.
No public services for Jack will be held. If anyone wishes to make a memorial contribution, they are asked to consider directing it to the American Cancer Society.
