Joseph Raymond "Ray" Brisson, age 76, of Garfield Avenue, Marquette, and formerly of Chatham died on Monday, February 25, 2008 at 5:15 p.m. at the Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette. Ray was born on November 9, 1931 in Limestone, Michigan to Victor and Emma (Speilmacher) Brisson. He attended school in Traunik and Eben and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1953 until 1955. Ray moved to Flint and worked for General Motors for twenty-five years, retiring in 1989. He returned to the U.P. and married JoAnn (nee Laakso ) Boesl on July 1, 1989. Ray enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife JoAnn Brisson of Marquette; four daughters - Vicki Rosencrantz of Millington, MI, Elaine Lasky of Millington, MI, Dr. Jean Brisson of Boulder, CO, and Joan (Dan) Bressler of Canton, MI; five step-children - Lori (Mike) Connelly of Marquette, David "Jamie" Boesl of Anoka, MN, Dee Ann (Dennis) Lundin of Cromwell, MN, Lisa (John) Inch of Marquette, and Kristin (Jeffrey) Hemmila of Grand Rapids, MN; brother - James (Fran) Brisson of Waukegan, IL; sister - Elaine (Willard) Williamson of Escanaba; sisters and brothers-in-law - Edythe Brisson of Limestone, Eleanor Brisson of Limestone, Joyce Laurich of Marquette, Allen (Roberta) Laakso of Chatham, Dennis (Sue) Laakso of Theresa, WI, and Duane (Gina) Laakso of Limestone; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Ray was preceded in death by his parents Victor and Emma and two brothers, Victor "Buzz" Brisson, and Bill Brisson.
Visitation and funeral services for Ray will be held at the Bowerman Funeral Home in Munising on Thursday, February 28, 2008. Visiting time will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Dale Kemp will conduct Ray's funeral service at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home's chapel. Interment will be at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Chatham where the Alger County Veterans and American Legion Honor Guard will conduct military honors in the spring.
