Munising
Josephine "Jo" Katherine (Kadulska) Kirmo, age 90, died on Wednesday morning, April 16, 2008 at the Tendercare Health Center in Munising. She was born in Chicago, Illinois to Thomas and Veronica (Novak) Kadulska on March 15, 1918. Jo's father died when she was very young and her mother married Peter Gruski and her family moved to Munising; Jo attended Sacred Heart School and Wm. G. Mather High School. She worked at the Munising Woodenware, Kimberly Clark, and for Dr. Grossnickle before retiring. Jo had married Matt Andrew "Andy" Kirmo on July 3, 1942 and he preceded her in death on February 21, 1968 at the age of sixty-one. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church where she cared for the Sacristy for many years, St. Anthony's Guild, and the Legion Auxiliary. Jo loved her flower garden and playing golf and was an avid bowler. She also enjoyed playing Bridge.
She is survived by her brother - Stanley "Shorty"(Irene) Gruski of Munising; nephew - Michael (Valerie) Gruski of DePere, WI; niece - Julie (Carmen) Louis of Custer, WI; great-nephew - Matthew Louis of Minot, ND; and a great-niece - Victoria Louis of Custer, WI. Jo was preceded in death by her parents, two step-fathers - Peter Gruski and John Kuzma, her brother Walter Gruski, and her sister Genevieve Gruski.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church in Munising on Saturday, March 17, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Maple Grove Cemetery.
