Judith "Judi" (Kusmirek) Marsh

Judith “Judi” (Kusmirek) Marsh, age 66, of Munising, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at U.P. Health System in Marquette.   She was born on October 1, 1950 in Marquette to the late Stanley and Corrine (Anderson) Kusmirek.  During school, she was a member of the Silver Echoes Drum and Bugle Corps and graduated from Wm. G. Mather High School in 1968.  Judi moved to New York for a while and then returned to the U.P. and was a homemaker.  She moved to Flint and was the head administrative assistant for the Federal Aviation Administration with the airport traffic control at the Bishop International Airport in Flint.  Judi moved back to the U.P. and she married Dean Harmon.  She was widowed in 2010.  Judi then moved back to her family home in Munising.  She was an advocate for mental health and domestic violence.  Judi served on the Board of Directors and was an active member of the Get Away Drop-In Center in Munising.  She was also involved with AA, the Humane Society, and UPAWS.  Judi had a passion for her friends and always gave and never expected anything back.  The Dog Patch was her place every morning for coffee and she loved gathering there with everyone that came in for coffee.  The waitresses loved her and she loved them.  Judi appreciated nature and enjoyed gardening, watching and feeding the birds and deer, hunting, fishing, and spending time at camp.

She is survived by her three children – Tracy (Johan) de Jong of Cumming, GA, Danielle (Jon) BennettStarr of Marquette, MI and Perry Bennett of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren – Brittany, Laila, Senna, Areanna, and Brooke; siblings – Tom Kusmirek, Stanley “Skip” Kusmirek, Jr., Barb Hoos, and Kathi (Murray) Donnelly all of Munising; uncle – Ed Kusmirek of Renton, WA, aunt – Rose Peters of Munising; and numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a visitation held at the Bowerman Funeral Home on Friday, November 11, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
