Wetmore
June Marie Tyner, age 83, of Wetmore died Friday, April 16, 2010 at Marquette General Hospital with her loving family at her side. She was born in Munising on April 15, 1927 to the late Emmit and Leah (St. Amour) Cornish. June married Charles W. Tyner, Sr. on April 14, 1945, and together they raised their nine children "on venison". When the two of them first started going together, Charles would take June on a "date" in his logging truck making his deliveries to the Nahma and Little Bay de Noc. During WWII June worked as a long distance operator for Bell Telephone in Detroit. She also worked as a nurse's aid at the Superior Health Haven in Munising. June enjoyed traveling to Oconto and Oregon with her family, but her favorite trip she ever took was the drive to Alaska with her sister Colleen to visit her nephew Dan. She enjoyed being able to see the scenery and the moose and bears along the way. June also enjoyed playing horse shoes, cards, Yahtzee, going to the Christmas Casino, watch Tiger Woods golf on TV, and a cold swim in Lake Superior. June was always known for her Fourth of July Celebrations. She would get to the beach past AuTrain early and save the spot for the family, and begin cooking the venison, turkey, and the whole nine yards. June had a special spot in her heart for animals, especially her cat Lady Bug, dog Babe, and son's dog Askim. The most important thing to June was her family, she would sing old tunes and yodel with her children and grandchildren. She always made sure that everyone got what they needed, even when times were tuff she could make things happen.
