Karen R. (Buck) Burley

Karen R. Burley, age 60, of Menominee, died at her home on Monday afternoon, June 19, 2023 under the loving care of her family and U.P. Health Systems Hospice.  She was born on May 17, 1963 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin the fourth of seven children to the late Edward and Carol (Clement) Buck.  Karen grew up in Milwaukee and graduated from West Milwaukee High School in 1982.  She attended cosmetology school and earned her cosmetology license.  Karen worked at a number of salons and Super Cuts.  While working as a waitress at George Webb, she met Dale Burley.  They were married on July 1, 1989 and together they raised their children.  She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and enjoyed volunteering at the VA hospital.  She also served as a State Officer with AMVETS.  Dale and Karen moved to the U.P. in 2001 and made Chatham their home.  Karen worked at an adult foster home on Shannon Drive caring for residents for years before health issues caused her to retire.  In 2015, they moved to Menominee.  Karen enjoyed camping, working in her flower gardens, playing BINGO, arts and crafts, and collecting many trinkets and angels.   She had a crazy infectious laugh that could be heard from all around and a voice that could carry.  Karen was a kind and helpful person and would care for all those that needed help.

She is survived by her husband of almost thirty-four year – Dale Burley of Menominee; children – Brian Buck of Green Bay, WI, Dale (Amy Jo) Burley, Jr. of Green Bay, Amy (Adam Nuttall) Burley of Stephenson, MI, Patrick Fath of Madison, WI, and Larry (Christina) Upton of Watertown, WI; grandchildren – Finnigan and Parker; siblings – Sandy Woldanski, Randy Buck, John Buck, Sharon Lupo, Bill Buck, and David Buck; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Karen was preceded in death by her parents Ed and Carol.

Visitation will be at the Bowerman Funeral Home in Munising on Saturday, July 1, 2023 from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. (Eastern Time).  Rev. Sandra Kolder will conduct her funeral service  begining at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Interment will follow at the Maple Grove Cemetery.
