Munising
Katherine Ann "Kay" Valenti (Kayser) age 77 passed away at her home on October 21, 2013. Kay was born on April 10, 1936 in Munising to Leo and Helen (Murk) Katorski. She graduated from Mather High School in 1955 and married Jack R. Kayser from Trenary later that year. Kay enjoyed three generations of children - son Dr. Jack (Sandy) Kayser of Fayetteville, AR; daughter Roxanne (David) Wilcox of Vulcan, MI with grandsons Mark and Adam (Yan Yan from China) Campbell with great grandson Alexander; and daughter Ronda (Jeffery) Karvinen of Cedar River, MI with granddaughters Ashley Karvenin and Jessica Linsmeier of Menominee, with great grandson Keagan and great granddaughter Akadia. Kay took business evening classes from Northern Michigan University and was employed by Alger County, she retired in 2002. Several community organizations benefited from her volunteer work as Secretary and member of the Local AFSME Union, Social Director and Secretary to the Polish American Society of Munising, as well as a 4-H and Assistant Cub Scout Leader. In addition she was active in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, serving as a member of the St. Anthony's Guild, Sacred Heart Choir and the Children of the Living God prayer group, as well as a substitute leader for the church's adoration hour. Kay was preceded by her son Max, who passed away at 8 months, and her sister Genevieve "Pudge" McKinny
Visitation will be on Friday, October 25, 2013 from 9:30 until 11:00 a.m. at the Bowerman Funeral Home. There will be time for sharing stories and remembrances at the Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. Kay's Funeral Mass will be at 12:10 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Church in Munising, with Fr. Chris Gardiner officiating. Interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery.
