Life is beautiful. Count your blessings. That is the legacy that Kathy Fulcher left to her friends and family as she departed this world and entered into her heavenly kingdom by her strong faith on Monday morning, September 14, 2020 following a brief and unexpected illness. She was born on June 2, 1959 in Munising to Marlin and Bonnie (Farr) Fulcher. Growing up in Munising, Kathy participated in Mustang basketball and golf, and she served as class treasurer for her 1977 graduating class from Mather High School. Kathy earned her bachelor’s degree from Northern Michigan University in 1982. She began employment with the State of Michigan as a Regulation Agent for the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs out of the Detroit, Grand Rapids, and Marquette offices. Her commitment to the State was over 28 ½ years when her failing health stopped her from working. Kathy was a lifetime member of the Presbyterian Church in Munising and her faith sustained her throughout her life. The Presbyterian bazaar will forever miss Kathy’s oreo balls. After Kathy’s diagnosis, she looked her friends and family straight in the eyes and said, “This is WHY we have faith.” Her faith never wavered.
Kathy loved all sports and not just her favorite teams of the Tigers, Packers, Pistons, and Red Wings. She was passionate about sports. Her golf game shined at Pictured Rocks Golf Course where she was a longtime member and she made two hole-in-ones at Mistwood Golf Course in Traverse City. She and friends were able to travel to Ireland to golf in 2001 and she was able to attend a Solheim Cup with friends.
Kathy was blessed with a wonderful family and enjoyed watching her four nephews grow from babies to adults. She cherished her time with them and was present in all stages of their lives. Kathy was proud of the men they had become and the families they are raising. She was a good daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Kathy felt blessed to have enjoyed traveling, golfing throughout Michigan, snowshoeing, spending time at Kamp, laughing, and loving. Life is beautiful. Count your blessings.
She is survived by her mother – Bonnie Fulcher of Wetmore; brother and sister-in-law – David and Debi Fulcher of Munising; sister and brother-in-law – Christine and Ed Heribacka of Munising; four nephews and their wives – Joshua and Steph Fulcher, Curt and Amy Heribacka, Jay Heribacka and Anna Chase, and Ben and Katie Fulcher; great nephews and great nieces – Hayden, Avery, Kole, Levi, Remi, Eva, and Emma; aunt – Janet Prunick and Paula Ray (Richard) White; uncle – Paul (Denise) VanLandschoot; numerous cousins; and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her father Marlin Fulcher and her grandparents.
