Munising
Kay C. (Kee) Hodges, age 58, of 1308 Commercial Street, Munising, died on Saturday, February 2, 2008 at Marquette General Hospital. She was born on May 30, 1949 in Munising to the late Joseph and Bridget (Ryan) Kee. Kay C. graduated from Wm. G. Mather High School in 1967 and waitressed at Leach's and the Forest Inn. Kay C. began her employment at the Munising Mill on March 27, 1978 as a Utility Helper in the Labor Pool. July 1980, she accepted the posted position of Utility Helper in the Specialties Department, and later she worked as a Rewinder Operator. January 1983, she was assigned to the Technical Department. In June 1987, she progressed to Shift Paper Tester in the Technical Department. Kay C. was a past member of the Women of the Moose and she golfed and bowled for many years. She enjoyed reading, knitting, baking and cooking. Kay C. loved to be the "Camp Director" for gatherings. She liked to throw a good party (and attend a good party.) Kay C. truly loved all of her family and she was an incredible caregiver to her daughter, Shannon.
She is survived by her daughters - Carmen Kee of Munising and Shannon Kee of Munising; grandson - Marcus Kee of Munising; brother - Joe Kee of Grand Rapids; sisters - Karen (Richard) Loring of Clearwater, FL, Bridget (Andy) Melwicki of Dobson, NC, Penny (George) Anderson of Munising, and Becky Kee of Munising; uncle - Jim (Della) Kee of Rapid River; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Kay C. was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Wini.
A memorial service will be held at a later date when all of the family can get together. In the meantime, an Irish Wake celebrating Kay C.'s life will be held at Shooter's on the Hill in Wetmore on Sunday, February 10, 2008 at 3:00 p.m.
